About

I have had the privilege of training throughout my career at several major hospitals in New York City, working with diverse populations facing complex psychological and medical challenges. I received both my master’s and doctoral degrees from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University.

My professional experience includes serving as a bilingual neuropsychological evaluator at the Neurological Institute at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, completing my pre-doctoral clinical internship as a bilingual intern—and later chief intern—at Bellevue Hospital/NYU Medical Center, and receiving family therapy training at the Roberto Clemente Family Center. I have also worked as both a neuropsychologist and psychologist at several traumatic brain injury sub-acute rehabilitation centers, and served as an Assistant Director at the Long Island Counseling Center of the Family and Children’s Association.

Academic Background

In addition to my clinical work, I have been employed in higher education since 1999 in various academic and administrative capacities. I have served as a Clinical Associate Professor and Clinic Director of the School Consultation Center at Fordham University, and since 2012 have held multiple leadership roles at Molloy University, including tenured associate professor, program founder, chairperson, and Associate Dean of a professional clinical graduate program. I was the project director for a four-year, $1.2 million federal grant that brought social-emotional services to diverse and underserved schoolchildren in Nassau County, New York and supported our clinical mental health counseling students during their internship year.

I founded the Mental Health and Wellness Center at Molloy University and had the honor of serving as its inaugural Director. The center is a community-based clinic where our masters level graduate students offer high-quality, low cost counseling services.

Clinical Philosophy

Good therapy requires both understanding and action. I believe in exploring the roots of current struggles while simultaneously building practical skills for daily life. My psychodynamic training provides depth, while cognitive-behavioral techniques offer immediate relief. This integrated approach respects both your need for insight and your desire for change.

I approach each client with multicultural humility, recognizing that your cultural context, faith background, and family history shape your experience. Science guides my practice, but flexibility and warmth guide our work together.
